Ben Affleck is the New "Batman"

Warner Bros. Studios Announcement of Ben Affleck as Batman.

“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some" said Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at Warner Bros. earlier today. "His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”

“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman," added director Snyder. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

“We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman," continued Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution President Sue Kroll. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes."

If there was one thing you could say about Affleck, is that he's never played a role where he could produce fear, mayhem and vulnerability. His pretty boy good looks, charm, smile, and chin. Aren't enough to make the new Superman Vs. Batman film fly.

There are films where Affleck gave vigorous performances and layered ones. But were they as many as the films where he didn't? Why does this choice of Batman only make me afraid its going to end up like Clooney's portrayal in being forgettable. I might be jumping the gun, but from all the people they could have picked. They really only picked him based on Warner Bros. financial business relationship with him, his good looks, marketability and love by the mass market.

However comic book fans won't take this news lightly. We've had already 7 other guys play Batman and in different forms with different tones. Also if people remember anything of Affleck past in action films such as Daredevil. He wasn't the most natural of fighters or with the most natural of physics. And all joking aside. With that chin, everyone in Gotham and the world would know he's Batman. You wouldn't be required to take off the mask or use Superman's x-ray vision to see through it..
