2014 Golden Globe Nominations

Before writing this list I saw an article stating that this years Globe nominations were respectable. Which then made me look at the list a second time and chuckle a bit. Saying to myself "What respectable?" Just take a peak at the best motion picture category of musical or comedy and tell me honestly where a true comedy or musical lies? Because it doesn't!

The Globes as almost any Hollywood insider or film fanatic knows. Is just an excuse to have a party and have all of the biggest stars be present. That's why their choices are befuddling and generally on purpose for specific reasons. Anyone who remembers "The Tourist" being nominated for a couple of awards. Can understand how vital and respected this award show is. What makes it special is the combination of TV & Film and also the fact that it has a foreign based award committee.

Notable omissions in this year's nominations are "Game of Thrones" in Best Drama, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" for Best Comedy (which hasn't been ever nominated) and as stated before. The omission of a true comedy or musical being nominated in the category of Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.

In conclusion the only reason to watch the Globes this year would have been if Ricky Gervais was hosting and sadly he is not.
