2018 Golden Globes Winners

The event we all care about before the Oscars, but really don't just had its awards ceremony and instead of it being about the movies and television it was overshadowed by politics and virtue signaling.

The big winner of the night most I presume would like to say was 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' that won Best Drama, despite its trailer making it look more like a black comedy. However, the actual winner of the night will be Hollywood trying to put on a face of anti-harassment, when it had been hiding all these events for years on end.

On a more positive note, Seth Myers seemed okay at his hosting duties. He always was a good deliverer of jokes ever since his SNL days, even though he isn't as naturally funny or impulsive as other comedians. I still would have preferred Ricky Gervais to be the host, but anytime they pick a comedian over an entertainer its something to be grateful for. Additionally, Seth Myers and his writing team did make fun of a number of topics from Weinstein to mansplaining. Not all of the jokes landed, some were also overtly political and neither did the crowd want to laugh too much about themselves. He did though provoke enough and that is something to note from the Weinstein jokes to the Kevin Spacey ones as well.

Awards and nominations wise this has been one of the quietest years with no real film being the clear front-runner or being the talk of the town to this date. The Oscars will have a tough job ahead with the shows becoming way too political for their own good and movies no longer being a glitz and glamour business were we talk about skill, talent and beauty. Not to mention for another year that we might see something unexpected win and with mass audiences probably not even knowing that film's existence. Which says a lot about Hollywood and the low ratings these shows even get.
