Widows (2018) Trailer - Viola Davis Movie

This trailer suddenly became promoted to myself on Instagram one day and I was immediately confused about what I was watching. How did this conventional like story, with a star filled cast end up being directed by the critically acclaimed Steve McQueen and written by Gillian Flynn whose both work I admire from 'Gone Girl' to '12 Years a Slave' and 'Shame'.

The images on screen with the pop ups of “made by” and “written by” just did not compute. As this wasn't the project I was expecting to come out of either of them. Maybe that's just me and there is more than meets the eye with this film’s trailer. Moreover, it maybe a bold move on their part to branch themselves off a little bit more towards the mainstream. However, what this trailer did make me immediately think of was the heist film 'Set it Off' from 1996 with Queen Latifah and Vivica A Fox. Not that their plots are identical, but maybe thematically a bit similar.

Shazam! (2019) Teaser Trailer - DC Comics Movie

DC may have found their next hit after 'Wonder Woman' and one that is also different from many of their other properties in how lighthearted it is. Something that was missing from their lineup for a while now and didn't work 100% with the 'Justice League' and the characters of Aquaman and The Flash. Here the character of Shazam and the world he inhabits looks to be perfect for a dumb and fun comic book ride. Hopefully, the villain also suits the tone they are going for and audiences are ready for DC to take in some of the dough that Marvel has been swimming in.

Robin Hood (2018) Trailer - Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx Movie

After how many Robin Hood flops and medieval failures these films are still being made by Hollywood and watching this trailer its no surprise that this film will most likely suffer the same fate. The setting of the film is supposed to be in medieval times, but feels eerily modern with its casino scene, Antifa style riots, fashion designer costumes and sets and scenery that borderline Lord of the Rings, to medieval England and all the way to a weird looking dystopian future. This has got to be the weirdest Robin Hood incarnation made yet.

Creed 2 (2018) Trailer - Michael B. Jordan Movie

An emotional rehash of Rocky 1 worked marvelously in the first Creed, so why wouldn't an emotional rehash of Rocky 4 not work as well. The trailer for Creed 2 shows Adonis Creed is still not free of his inner demons due his troubled youth and tragic family past. The last demon he may have yet to face is the one that struck down his father and left a dark shadow over his family name. Its the story that was meant to be told ever since the first Creed was made and there is no one out there that doesn't want to see this character triumph and excel with Rocky by his side.

A Star is Born (2018) Trailer - Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga Movie

The beloved and great Bradley Cooper can not only act, but he can also direct. In his directoral debut he tackles the artistic struggle of a country rock singer who he also portrays and his connection with an upcoming songwriter/singer played by Lady Gaga.

What's so funny about this trailer is that it looks so good that the prediction should be made from now that this will be one of the Oscar front runners next year, even though this is third remake of the property that will have been made since the original back in 1937.

Suspiria (2018) Remake Trailer - Dakota Johnson & Tilda Swinton Movie

This trailer came out of nowhere for me personally, as I am admirer of original classic horror film and wasn't aware a remake was in the works. Naturally, its always curious to see how other people may do with your beloved properties and it isn't always the case that they will be a negative experience.

Watching the trailer relief should set it if your a fan as it looks like the property is in good hands, while also satisfaction as it will be a creepy ride. With the music in it being pitch perfect, the atmosphere eerie, performances raw and a plot that looks to be close enough to the original, but may veer off a bit based on reports from the cast and crew of the film. It looks like 2018 has been and will be a very good year for mainstream horror.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) Official Trailer

This was a much better trailer and insight to the 'Solo' film versus the first teaser. However, it's biggest issue was and kind of still is the vibe it gives off and the tone they are trying to set for the 'Solo' and maybe future sequels. As are these going to be lighthearted adventure stories or thrillers? Because we all have a pre conceived idea of who Han Solo was before 'A New Hope' and many of us didn't see him as a Indiana Jones type figure, instead more of an antihero who did shoot Greedo first.

Lastly, minor nitpick, what is up with the score at the end of both trailers? This is how these trailers are easily giving mixed signals, as the rest of the film seems potentially more serious, but ends on a score that is more reminiscent of the 'The Clone Wars' TV show and for a younger audience.
