This September 28 will be the first ever Simpsons crossover in the premiere episode of the 13th season of Family Guy. For most die hard Simpsons fans, this is kind of a blow. Primarily for creative reasons.
And with the episode yet to be released, there is news of a Futurama/Simpsons Crossover that's in the works. While a better idea overall for a crossover in my opinion. As the cast and crew of both shows are practically like an extended family. However it doesn't bode well for the Simpsons and after reaching 26 seasons to have back to back crossovers. It screams a lack of creativty on their part and most will hope for the show to end sooner rather than later, before they jump the shark again.
Here are some details on the upcoming episode from "Entertainment Weekly" who broke the story:
"The crossover... will unspool a complex, Terminator-esque story that involves Bart blowing his nose on a sandwich that he places in a time capsule. When that mixes with Milhouse's rabbit's foot and some radioactive ooze, it creates a global catastrophe in the future, prompting Bender to travel back in time to kill Bart and prevent this mega-mess."
