There are so many reasons why this film is so bad. It was a terribly financed production with some of the craziest ideas imaginable over how a super-villain should be and how world peace can be accomplished. A film which by the end of it all. Will make you feel depressed over how they could have made this film a reality for so cheap and how they couldn't think of a more reasonable plot as well to go with. An amateurly made comic book film and one of the biggest disgraces in the movie production business.
The story is that Lex Luthor (Gene Hackman) escapes from prison and has the ultimate plan to destroy Superman (Christopher Reeve). He takes a piece of Superman's hair mixes it with a "fetus" lets say and attaches it onto a missile which Superman throws into the Sun. The explosion then creates a being called Nuclear Man. Yes that is the name of the villain in the film and he's quite mind blowingly bad.
At the same time Clark has to face the Daily Planet falling in the hands of a scandal newspaper owner and his daughter Lacy's (Mariel Hemingway) advances on him. If that wasn't enough. The whole world cant achieve world peace because of too many nuclear weapons and Superman is the only one who can do the job..
Just by reading the summary I've already clarified enough to how silly and bad this film is. There is really nothing much more to say, except that they shouldn't have made the film if they didn't have enough money or respect for the character and for the continuity of the series.
